This book deals with the history of the strategic conquests of the Mughals in the far-off territories of Bengal from the year the Mughals captured Tanda, the then capital of Bengal, in 1574 until the death of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah in 1757. History during the Mughal period was recorded by royal courtiers who wrote about their Emperor and his Governors, exalting their victories and achievements. Rarely were the pursuits of the rulers of Bengal, who were subjugated, recorded, if at all mentioned. The recorded history was not always honest with the occurrences. During the period the British were in India, they contorted the history to suit their schemes, denigrating and deriding the people of this region and country to justify colonial rule. The history of India, as taught to us, is not always a true depiction of reality. It is the history of the foreigners who came and ruled India. The history has been repeatedly dressed up to suit their requirements and presented to us. Facts have been misrepresented, misinterpreted or deliberately suppressed to serve the purpose of the ruler.
